Enhance the Curb Appeal
The small details go a long way. Plant some flowers, touch up the paint and keep the lawn looking well-maintained. Prospective buyers will form an opinion the moment they pull up to your home–make it a good one.
Depersonalize
You want your home to appear homey to potential buyers, but not personalized to you. Real estate agent Chris Carrow recommends removing all family photos and drawings on the fridge before showing your home. You want prospective buyers to envision their family in the home, not yours.
Leave the Home During Showings
You want possible buyers to feel at-home and comfortable when viewing your house. Leaving your home during showings allows them to peek into closets and bedrooms without feeling like an intruder in the house. Take a stroll around Lake Calhoun–when you come back, your home may be sold!
Stage the Home
If you have rooms in the home without obvious roles, give them one. You want buyers to envision their life in the home and how they can fill each room in the home to make it their own. An odd-shaped nook in the corner could be staged as a small office for example, or an alcove off the kitchen could be staged as a pantry. Be creative!
